In the early 20th century, an age unaccustomed to women in roles of authority, Helena Kowalska, an obscure Polish nun, was nevertheless able to accomplish what few women could. Though she was unknown and lived a life of poverty, she nevertheless became one of the most influential mystics in the Church's history.
