Samuel James Hingston (SJH) emigrated to Canada in the early 1800s with the 100th Regiment of Foot, fought and was wounded in the War of 1812, was married twice, once to Winifred Cavendish and once to Eleanor McGrath, had nine children and died in Hinchinbrook, Lower Canada, on 21 November 1830.

“The internet” quite consistently shows his parents as Benezer Murdock Hingston and Priscilla Compton.
